LET’S DELVE INTO WHAT COFFEE ACTUALLY IS, CONTAINS AND WHAT IMPACT IT COULD OFFER OUR HEALTH.

Coffee is a widely consumed beverage prepared from the roasted seeds (beans) of the Coffea plant, primarily C. arabica and C. robusta species, originating from regions of Africa. The beans are processed, roasted, ground, and then brewed with hot water to extract their distinctive flavors, aromas, and caffeine content.

Coffee is cherished globally for its stimulating effects due to caffeine, its complex flavor profiles ranging from fruity and floral to chocolaty and nutty, and its significant cultural importance across societies where it serves as both a daily ritual and social facilitator, supporting countless economies through its cultivation, processing, and service industries.

Studies have established that consuming high levels of caffeine on a consistent basis increases the likelihood of developing heart disease. The definition of habitual caffeine consumption in this research was drinking caffeinated beverages at least 5 days weekly for a period exceeding one year. The beverages considered in the study included coffee and tea, as well as carbonated drinks like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Red Bull, Sting, and Monster.

Investigators indicated that 400 mg of caffeine approximately equals four cups of coffee, ten cans of soda, or two energy drinks. According to their findings, daily consumption of 400 mg caffeine was demonstrated to notably affect the autonomic nervous system, causing elevated heart rate and blood pressure over extended periods.
